Day Five

A moving and emotional day...one that made us proud of our American heritage. Left Brittany at 8:00am and travelled to Normandy. First went to Pointe du Hoc between Utah and Omaha beaches. Weather was windy, rainy and cold.  We all got wet, but we're amazed at the bunkers and craters from bombshells.  From there we went to Omaha beach and saw the monuments dedicated o those who lost their lives. We stopped in the town of Arromanches-les-Bain's for lunch.  Their specialty are mussels and some of our braver students enjoyed  hem.  We then went to the American cemetery which moved us all..oops we went o the cemetery before lunch. Everyone in the group was struck by the sacrifice made for our freedom as we walked through the rows of crosses. It bought history home and made it com alive for all of us.
